Brashear at Bucklin February 16, 2010
The Tigers and Bulldogs split a pair of Tri-County Conference basketball games.
The Bucklin girls outscored Brashear 13-8 in the 1st quarter, but it was a dead heat in the 2nd and 3rd quarters as Bucklin maintained their 5 point lead of 19-14 at halftime, and 31-26 at the end of the third quarter. Brashear managed to outscore Bucklin 17-15 in the final quarter but came up short by a score of 46-43. Stephanie Elsea scored 13 points for Brashear, Abby McKim had 11, Sydney Slavin added 8, Katie Smith had 4, Chandi March had 3, and Shelby Salter and Megan Taylor scored 2 points each. For Bucklin, Shelby Shoemaker had 13 points, Taylor Bailey scored 11, Jessica Sorenson and Allison Liebhart had 7 each, Emily Sorenson had 6, and Amanda Liebhart scored 2 points.
In the boys' game, Brashear jumped out to a 21-12 lead after 1 quarter and led 34-23 at halftime. Brashear continued to extend their lead to 51-35 after 3 quarters and picked up the conference win 70-50. Anthony Ambrosia and Matt Thomas led the way for Brashear with 25 and 24 points, Nick Thomas added 11, Joe Clarkson had 4, Taren Treasure had 3, Joseph Woods had 2, and Daniel Smith scored 1 point. For Bucklin, Ethan Molloy scored 15 points, Marc Finney had 13, Cody Kessel had 10, Anthony Kitchen had 6, and Josh Molloy scored 4 points.
