The Tigers and Raiders split a pair of non-conference basketball games.
The Brashear girls took a 9-8 lead after 1 quarter, but outscored North Shelby 17-5 in the 2nd frame to take a 26-13 lead into halftime. Brashear extended their lead to 36-20 after 3 quarters and picked up the win by a score of 46-25. Stephanie Elsea led all scorers with 21 points, Shelby Salter added 8, Katie Smith had 7, Abby McKim had 6, Megan Taylor had 2, and Chandi March and Sydney Slavin scored 1 point each. For North Shelby, Jessica Linberger scored 7 points, Elizabeth Linberger added 5, Rachel Echternacht and Hillary Henderson had 4 each, Danielle Rich had 3, and Miriam Martin scored 2 points.
In the boy's game, Brashear fell behind 14-7 after one quarter, but used a strong 2nd quarter to pull within 24-22 at halftime. North Shelby widened their lead to 35-31 after 3 quarters, then put the game away with 11 free-throw points in the 4th quarter for a 52-40 win. Matt Thomas had 17 points for Brashear, Anthony Ambrosia added 11, Joseph Woods and Zach Reeves had 4 each, and Taren Treasure and Nick Thomas scored 2 points each. North Shelby was paced by John Stoneburner with 20 points, Kendle Smith added 15, Bradley Craigmyle had 6, Ryan Henderson had 5, Michael Orr had 4, and Kyle Skinner scored 2 points.
