Brashear at Linn County February 24, 2010
The Tigers drop a pair of Tri-County Conference basketball games on the road.
Early on, the Brashear Lady Tigers couldn't stop the red-hot shooting Meagan Nickell who outscored Brashear 17-5 in the 1st quarter. Brashear chipped away at Linn County's lead and went into halftime trailing 21-11. The Lady Tigers continued to close the gap to 27-19 after 3 quarters, but couldn't make up the difference and fell to Linn County 34-25. For Brashear Sydney Slavin scored 8 points, Stephanie Elsea and Shelby Salter had 7 each, Abby McKim had 2, and Katie Smith scored 1 point. Linn County was led by Meagan Nickell with 26 points, Arieal Rinehart had 4, and Skylar Gray and Samantha Klinger scored 2 points each.
The Brashear boys also suffered a slow start falling behind 24-16 after 1 quarter, but came roaring back in the 2nd quarter to take a 42-38 halftime lead. Brashear came out cold again after the half and fell behind 54-48 after 3 quarters and ended up losing 70-66. Anthony Ambrosia led Brashear scoring with 29 points, Matt Thomas added 17, Nick Thomas had 6, Daniel Smith and Joe Clarkson had 4 each, Joseph Woods had 3, and Taren Treasure scored 2 points. For Linn County, Brandon Montgomery scored 16 points, Shane Rardon had 14, Jarrett Alexander and Jeremiah Wolte had 13 each, Jonathan Hostetter had 9, and Devon O'Kane scored 6 points.
