Brashear Baseball at LaPlata September 13, 2010

The Tigers and Bulldogs make up the rained out game from Friday.

The weather at the LaPlata sports complex was a lot better Monday than it had been Friday when the Brashear vs LaPlata baseball game was postponed due to rain and thunderstorms. LaPlata took an early lead as they scored single runs in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd innings. With Brashear trailing 3-0, Brashear's Nick Thomas opened the top of the 5th with a leadoff double. Jay Scudder hit a chopper handcuffing the shortstop resulting in a low throw to 1st allowing Scudder to reach base and driving in Thomas. Scudder moved up to 2nd on a wild pitch, then screened Nick Bradshaw's grounder to short allowing Bradshaw to reach 1st while Scudder headed home to pull Brashear within one run at 3-2. LaPlata immediately answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 5th, then iced the game with 3 runs in the 6th for an 8-2 win. Nick Thomas took the loss for Brashear. Hayden Fouch got the win for LaPlata, striking out 13 while giving up only 1 hit in 6 innings and carrying a perfect game through the 1st 4 innings. Tyler Clay pitched one inning in relief for LaPlata. Taylor Wheeler homered for LaPlata leading an 11 hit attack.
