Brashear Softball/Baseball at Atlanta September 14, 2010
The Tigers win a pair of Tri-County Conference games.
Tuesday night's games were supposed to played in Brashear, but Atlanta had a dry field, so the Tigers hosted Atlanta on Atlanta's field. In the softball game, Brashear took a 9-0 lead after the first inning, but Atlanta answered with 6 runs in the top of the 2nd. It was all Brashear after that with the Lady Tigers ending the game after 4 innings by a score of 24-9. Kristen Love was the winning pitcher for Brashear with Harpster and Dysart pitching for Atlanta.
In the baseball game, Atlanta got on the scoreboard for a 2-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning on a 2-run Preston Ross homer, but Brashear answered with a 5 run outburst in the bottom of the 4th. Hayden Coin got things started with a 1-out single. Jay Scudder followed with a double, Nick Bradshaw reached on an error, driving in Coin, Luke Morrow singled, Nick Gordon reached on a fielder's choice driving in Scudder, then Cody Snelling followed with an rbi double and Adam Songer cleared the bases with a 2-rbi double. Atlanta pulled within 5-4 in the top of the 6th, but Brashear answered with an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th and got the win 6-5. Adam Songer had 3 hits for Brashear, Cody Snelling had 2, and Nick Thomas, Hayden Coin, Jay Scudder, and Luke Morrow all had hits. For Atlanta, Miller, Garnett, Cox, Bogeart, and Ross had hits. Hayden Coin was the winning pitcher for Brashear striking out 10 and Miller took the loss for Atlanta.
