Green City Softball/Baseball at Brashear September 17, 2010
The host Tigers claim a pair of Tri-County Conference victories.
In Friday night's softball game, Brashear scored 3 times in the 1st, 8 times in the 2nd, and 4 times in the 3rd to defeat Green City 15-0 in 3 innings. Shelby Salter and Cierra Hines had 2 hits each and Meredith Thomas and Abby McKim also had hits for Brashear. Thomas and High had hits for Green City. Cierra Hines was the winning pitcher for Brashear with Jacobs and Heaton pitching for Green City.
The baseball game was hotly contested. Green City scored 3 runs in the 1st including King's 2-rbi home run. Brashear scored a single run in the 1st, then Luke Morrow and David Walker singled in the 2nd and Adam Songer drove them in with a 3-run homer to put Brashear ahead 4-3. Green City tied the game at 3-all in the 3rd and it was anybody's game. With the score tied 5-5 in the bottom of the 6th, Jay Scudder led off with an infield grounder, then stole 2nd. Nick Gordon singled to drive in Scudder putting Brashear up 6-5. The Tigers couldn't hold the lead as Green City scored in the top of the 7th to knot the game at 6-all. The bottom of the 8th was déjà vu as Scudder led off with an infield single and again stole 2nd. This time Nick Bradshaw lined a ball into center to drive Scudder home with the winning run for a 7-6 win. Cody Snelling went the distance for Brashear striking out 13. Hoerrmann took the loss for Green City.
