Novinger Tournament 2nd Round Results December 2, 2010

On Thursday night, the Brashear Lady Tigers faced off against the Scotland County Lady Tigers in a championship semi-final game. The top seeded Scotland County girls held an 11-5 lead after the 1st quarter and scored 18 points in the 2nd quarter to take a 29-10 lead into halftime. Scotland County extended their lead to 46-19 after 3 quarters and won by a margin of 56-23. For Brashear, Meredith Thomas scored 6 points, Stephanie Elsea and Abby McKim had 5 each, Miranda Creason, Katie Smith, and Sydney Slavin scored 2 each and Shelby Salter scored 1 point. Skyler Alderton, Anna Duley, and Jamie Shaw were all in double figures for Scotland County with 16, 10, and 10 points respectively. Ashley Tague had 8, Cali Holt had 7, Catie Shalley had 3, and Megan Creek scored 2 points.

The Brashear Tigers played Bevier Wednesday night in the consolation semi-finals. Brashear held a 9-8 lead after 1 quarter, but Bevier took the lead 30-25 into halftime. Brashear regained the lead 41-38 after 3 quarters and maintained that margin for the 57-54 win. Hayden Housman scored 17 for Brashear, Nick Thomas chipped in 14, Cody Snelling had 12 Adam Songer had 6, and Joseph Woods and Jay Scudder scored 4 points each with Brashear having the benefit of 20 bench points in their winning effort. For Bevier, McKenzey Pipes was almost a 1-man wrecking crew pouring in 28 points. Wade Teter was also in double figures with 13, Aaron Teter and Cody Faught each had 4, Jonathan Basler had 3, and Andrew Teter scored 2 points.

In other 2nd round action, the LaPlata girls topped Milan 53-46 to advance to the title game while the LaPlata boys pounded Green City 69-20 to also advance to the championship. The Moberly JV girls topped Novinger 54-34 in the consolation semi-finals and the Bevier girls downed Green City 48-39 in the other girls consolation semi-final game. The Scotland County boys defeated Novinger in the other championship semi-final game by a score of 39-33.
