North Shelby Baseball at Brashear March 22, 2011
The host Tigers kick off their season with a win.
The Brashear baseball season didn't look very promising Tuesday night when North Shelby's Arnett sent the 1st pitch of the season over the right field fence, followed by 2 more runs, staking the Raiders to a 3-0 lead after the 1st half inning. Things didn't turn out to be all that bad for Brashear as they answered with 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st. After holding North Shelby scoreless in the top of the 2nd, Brashear got on the scoreboard for another 5 runs including a 3-run homer for Cody Snelling. Jay Scudder added another 3-run blast in the Tiger 4th as Brashear rolled to a 5-inning 16-6 win. Hayden Housman and Jay Scudder drove in 4 runs each with Cody Snelling picking up 3 rbi's. Housman, Snelling, and Curtis Blakely each had 3 hits for Brashear with Adam Songer and Nick Bradshaw also having hits. Thrasher had 3 hits for North Shelby with Arnett and Stoneburner also having hits. Hayden Coin got the start for Brashear going 4 innings and giving up 2 earned runs on 5 hits and striking out 6. Cody Snelling pitched an inning of relief surrendering 1 hit and striking out 2. Stoneburner took the loss for North Shelby with Arnett pitching an inning of relief.
