Brashear Baseball at Canton April 5, 2011

The Canton Tigers sweep a varsity/JV double header.

Tuesday night, the host Canton Tigers wasted no time, scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the first, including a 2-run blast by Steffen Simmons. Canton added another pair of runs in the 3rd and another Simmons solo home-run in the 4th. Meanwhile, Brashear struggled at the plate without a hit until the 6th inning except for a Nick Bradshaw single in the 1st. In the 6th, Bradshaw was the leadoff hitter and was struck by a pitch. Cody Snelling followed with a single through the left side of the infield, then Jay Scudder shot a single up the middle to score Bradshaw with Brashear's only run. Canton came back in the bottom of the 6th with 5 more runs to end the game early, 11 to 1. Hayden Coin took the loss for Brashear striking out 6 and giving up 9 hits in 4 innings of work. Cody Snelling struck out 2 in relief giving up 2 hits. Garrett Serbin got the win for Canton, limiting Brashear to 3 hits while striking out 8.
