Brashear Baseball at Atlanta May 9, 2011
The Tigers get a 14-10 win after wet fields move the game to Atlanta.
Monday night's game was scheduled to be played at Brashear, but wet field conditions caused it to be moved to Atlanta's field with Brashear still playing as the 'home team'. Some sloppy defensive work by Brashear allowed Atlanta to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, then Atlanta posted 4 runs in the top of the 3rd on a Preston Ross grand slam to extend their lead to 5-0. Adam Songer got Brashear on the scoreboard in the bottom of the 3rd with a 2-run homer. Atlanta scored again in the top of the 4th, but Brashear pushed across 5 in the bottom of the 4th, including a Hayden Housman grand slam to take a 7-6 lead. Atlanta answered with a run in the 5th, and 3 in the 6th giving them a 10-8 lead going into the bottom of the 7th. Brashear loaded the bases, pushing across 2 runs to tie the game before Hayden Housman struck again with his 2nd grand slam of the night to give Brashear a 14-10 walk-off win. Adam Songer, Cody Snelling, Nick Thomas, Hayden Coin, Jay Scudder, and Hayden Housman had hits for Brashear. Derek Jackson, Chris Cox, Mick Garnett, Preston Ross, Aaron Sampson, and Brady Bogeart had hits for Atlanta. Cody Snelling got the start for Brashear going 5 innings for a no-decision with Nick Thomas pitching the last 2 innings and picking up the win in relief. Mick Garnett went 6 innings for Atlanta with Travis Miller pitching 1 inning and taking the loss in relief.
