The Brashear JH Lady Tiges kicked of their hoops season facing LaPlata at the Green City Tournament. Brashear took a 4-2 lead after 1 quarter and led 9-6 at halftime. The third quarter was a dead heat with both teams scoring 6 as Brashear held on to win by a final margin of 20 to 16. Allison Thompson had 6 points for Brashear, Abby Kerby and Mandy Taylor had 4 each, and Skylar Housman, Alli Garrett, and Kylie Williams had 2 points each. For LaPlata, Sam Jett scored 9 points, Kalie Lene, Ally Gregory, and Jessica Davison had 2 each, and Tyra Douglas scored 1 point.

The Brashear boys also faced LaPlata for their first game. LaPlata jumped out to a quick 18 to 3 lead after one quarter and led 26 to 7 going into halftime. LaPlata extended their lead to 39 to 9 after three quarters and won the game 49 to 9. Jacob Reeves scored 6 points for Brashear, Brody Henrichs had 2, and Gabe Thomas scored 1 point. For LaPlata, Jace Brown scored 12, Ty Davison had 10, Baylon Belt had 8, Mitch Cox added 7, Ben Bolden had 6, and Logan Smith, Tanner Smith, and Kirk Larson scored 2 points each.
