Brashear JH at Atlanta October 17, 2011

The Tigers and Hornets split a pair of JH basketball games.

In the girls game, Brashear used an aggressive defense to jump out to a 10 to 4 first quarter lead and took an 18 to 9 lead into halftime. Brashear extended the lead to 29 to 12 after 3 quarters and coasted to a 37 to 20 win. Allison Thompson scored 10 points for Brashear, Mandy Taylor added 8, Skylar Housman had 6, Abby Hall had 5, and Abby Kerby, Sidney Sykes, Caitlee Hall, and Saydie Potter scored 2 points each. Demetri Thomas led Atlanta with 8 points, Abbie Parton had 5, Alicia Stransbaugh had 4, Sheyenne Klem had 2, and Molly Waddle scored 1 point. Brashear won the B quarters 6-2.

The Atlanta boys came out with the hot hand and quickly took a 19 to 0 first quarter lead. Brashear finally got on the board in the 2nd quarter, but Atlanta led 31 to 9 by halftime. Atlanta continued to extend their lead in the 3rd pulling out to a 49 to 15 lead before winning by a margin of 55 to 20. Chance Hill scored 9 points for Brashear, Brody Henrichs had 6, and Colt Acton scored 5 points. For Atlanta, Lane Waddle scored 17 points, Justin Grigsby and Kerby Gunnels had 8 each, Collan Thrasher and Garrett West had 6 each, Marty Halley and Chase West had 4 each, and Corey Smothers scored 2 points. Atlanta took the B quarters 30-4.
