Brashear JH at LaPlata October 18, 2011

The host Bulldogs sweep a JH basketball double-header.

LaPlata took an 8-3 lead after one quarter of play in the girls game, but Brashear came back to pull within one at 15-14 at halftime. The game was close with LaPlata leading 23-21 after 3 quarters, but LaPlata outscored Brashear 14-8 in the final quarter to win 37-29. Mandy Taylor scored 10 points for Brashear, Abby Hall had 5, Abby Kerby had 4, Allie Garrett and Kylie Williams had 3 each, and Skylar Housman and Allison Thompson scored 2 points each. LaPlata was led by Sam Jett with 15 points, Tyra Douglas had 7, Jessica Davison had 5, Kalie Lene and Laryn Pinkston had 4 each, and Ally Gregory scored 2 points.

In the boys game, the first quarter was close with LaPlata leading 11 to 9 at it's conclusion. The second quarter was a different story as LaPlata outscored Brashear 18-6 to take a 29-15 lead into the locker room. The second half was a wash with Brashear scoring 17 and LaPlata scoring 19 to hold on for a 48-32 win. Colt Acton set the pace for Brashear with 13 points, Jacob Reeves added 6, Gabe Thomas, Brody Henrichs and Chance Hill had 4 each, and Marshall Goff scored 1 point. For LaPlata, Ben Bolden scored 14 points, Jace Brown had 13, Baylon Belt added 7, Ty Davison had 4, Logan Smith and Alec Smith had 3 each, and Cole Smith and Logan Curtis scored 2 points each.
