Linn County JH Basketball at Brashear November 3, 2011
On Thursday night, the Lady Mustangs and the Lady Tigers squared off for a hard-fought game. Linn County held a slim 8-6 lead after one quarter, but pulled away to an 18-12 lead at halftime. After falling behind by 10 points after the half, the Brashear Lady Tigers rallied to pull within 3 midway through the 4th quarter. However, a quick bucket and a series of made free-throws iced the 37-26 win for Linn County. Caitlee Hall scored 10 points for Brashear, Allison Thompson had 7, Mandy Taylor had 6, Skylar Housman had 2, and Alli Garrett score 1 point. For Linn County, Brittane Hubbard scored 13 points, Megan Schreiner had 11, Alexis Miller had 5, Kiley Stillwell had 4, and Aletha Grismore and Taylor Coran scored 2 points each.
In the boys' game, Colt Acton got Brashear on the scoreboard first with a 3-pointer, but Linn County led 10-9 after one quarter and 18-13 at halftime. The 2nd half was all Linn County as they outscored Brashear 17-5 in the third quarter on their way to a 42-24 win. Chance Hill scored 10 points for Brashear, Gabe Thomas added 6, Colt Acton and Jacob Reeves had 3 each, and Brody Henrichs scored 2 points. For Linn County, Logan Brinkley scored 16 points, Tristen Creason added 13, Anthony McCollum scored 6, Alec Finney, Cole Hullinger, and James Davis had 2 each, and Dusten Coke scored 1 point.
