Brashear faced top-seeded Scotland County in the Novinger Tournament Monday night. Early on, the game looked nothing like a usual 1 seed - 8 seed matchup as Brashear led 9-8 late in the 1st quarter. Scotland County retook the lead and built a 27-16 margin at halftime. Brashear couldn't close the gap in the 2nd half, but were still within 12 a couple of minutes into the 4th quarter before Scotland County pulled away for a 54-31 win. For Brashear, Hayden Housman led all scorers with 22 points, Joe Clarkson added 6, Taren Treasure had 2, and Joseph Woods scored 1 point. Derrick Muntz led Scotland County scoring with 20 points, Harley Stone had 10, Brice Cowell had 7, Brock Bondurant and Andrew Mathes had 6 each, and Cordie King scored 5 points.
In other Monday night action, the #4 Bevier girls beat #5 Green City 40-29 and the top seeded Scotland County girls rolled to a 66-36 win over Novinger. On the boys' side, #4 LaPlata topped #5 Milan 52-46. The game was hotly contested throughout with both teams playing aggressive defense. Milan trailed by only 1 point 47-46 with under a minute left and got the ball into the paint, but failed to convert missing their chance to take the lead.
