The Bulldogs Get A Sweep On The Road
The Brashear Tigers hosted the LaPlata Bulldogs Tuesday night in Tri-County Conference Basketball. Neither the Lady Tigers nor the Lady Bulldogs shot particularly well in the early going, but LaPlata managed to scratch out an 8-4 lead after the first quarter which they extended to 19-11 at the half. Brashear outscored LaPlata 9-3 in the third quarter to pull within 22-20 at it's end. The Lady Tigers stayed close throughout the final quarter, but could never quite close the gap and LaPlata held on for a 36-26 win. Meredith Thomas scored 9 points for Brashear, Miranda Creason and Katie Smith had 5 each, Shelby Salter had 3, and Olivia Thompson and Chandi March scored 2 points each. For LaPlata, Makay Belt and Rachel Shahan scored 9 points each, Mallory Eitel added 7, Morgan Kimmel had 6, Taylor Snodgrass had 3, and Molly Safley scored 2 points.
Unlike the start of the girls' game, the boys had no problem getting the scoring started, but it was LaPlata doing most of the damage as they ran up a 25-9 lead after one quarter and led 48-28 at halftime. The scoring continued at a brisk clip in the 2nd half with both teams' subs seeing most of the playing time in the 4th quarter as LaPlata rolled to an 86-55 win. Hayden Housman scored 21 points for Brashear, Joseph Woods added 11, Taren Treasure had 8, Tristin Smith had 6, TJ Harrelson had 4, Joe Clarkson had 3, and Marcus Jefferson scored 2 points. For LaPlata, Weston Smith led with 22 points, Taylor Herron had 11, Tanner Riggins and Peyton Swift scored 10 each, Andrew Perry had 9, Seth Brown and Jake Waddle had 6 each, Hunter Howe had 5, and Matt Safley scored 2 points.
