North Shelby Tournament Wednesday January 18, 2012

The Brashear Lady Tigers and LaPlata Lady Bulldogs arrived at Wednesday's consolation semi-finals due to losses to Scotland County and North Shelby respectively. Brashear came out as flat as a team can be and LaPlata took advantage, starting the game with an 11-0 run and building a 28-4 lead at halftime. Brashear came out of the locker room with a little more fire for the 2nd half, and although they outscored LaPlata 27-17 in the 2nd half, that wasn't nearly enough to dig out of the hole they were in and LaPlata advanced with a 45-31 win. Meredith Thomas scored 18 points for Brashear, Ashley Moncrief added 4, Shelby Salter, Katie Smith, Chandi March, and Nikki Moncrief had 2 each, and Miranda Creason scored 1 point. For LaPlata, Mallory Eitel scored 15 points, Makay Belt had 10, Rachel Shahan added 8, and Taylor Snodgrass, Molly Safley, and Jennifer McIntyre scored 4 points each.

In the girls championship semi-final, Scotland County downed North Shelby 49-40. The boys championship semi-final went to North Shelby with a 70-61 upset win over LaPlata, and Knox County defeated Palmyra JV 58-23 in the boys consolation semi-final game.
