Atlanta JH Tournament Wednesday November 7, 2012
In the first night of semi-finals at the Atlanta Tournament, the Novinger girls defeated Bevier 33-29 to advance to the consolation game. The Green City girls squeaked past Bucklin/Macon Co by a score of 25-24 to advance to Saturday's championship game, and the Novinger boys downed Green City 55-37 to punch their ticket to Saturday's title game.
The Brashear Tigers and Atlanta Hornets played for the right to advance to Friday's boys consolation game. It was a close contest much of the way with Brashear leading 10-6 after one quarter of play, and with Atlanta leading 20-17 at halftime. The game remained competitive after the half with the two teams tied at 28-28 after 3 quarters. The fourth quarter was a different story however, with Atlanta outscoring Brashear 27-2 to pick up the win by a final score of 55-30. Patrick Jochimsen led Brashear scoring with 11 points, Broday Henrichs added 8, Marshall Goff and Colt Acton had 4 each, Ty Gottman had 2, and Jacob Bleything scored 1 point. Atlanta's top scorers with Garrett West with 23 and Tristan Collier with 13. Matt Howlett added 9, Corey Smothers had 4, and Dylan Downey scored 3 points.
