Tuesday night at the Novinger Tournament saw few surprises as the #2 Scotland County boys defeated #7 Milan 71-33 and #3 LaPlata topped #6 Green City 69-29. On the girls side, #2 Milan beat #7 Novinger 50-27 and the #3 Green City girls downed #6 Brashear 42-27.

The Green City girls had early success pounding the ball inside on Brashear while the Lady Gopher defense did a good job of keeping Brashear out of the paint. This allowed Green City to run up a 16-0 lead after one quarter and a 22-4 lead at halftime. Brashear made some adjustments after the half and had closed the gap to 13 by mid-third quarter. Brashear was able to close the gap to 13 again late in the game, but could get no closer and fell to Green City by a final score of 42-27. Shelby Salter led Brashear scoring with 11 points, Meredith Thomas added 6, Allison Thompson had 5, Olivia Thompson and Nikkie Moncrief had 2 each, and Miranda Creason and Mandy Taylor scored 1 point each. For Green City, Cheyanne Heaton scored 18 points, Emily Sorenson had 10, Alicia Albrecht had 8, and Marissa LaFaver, Natalie Ayers, and Raeann Kilgore scored 2 points each.
