Marion County at Brashear December 17, 2012
The Marion County Mustangs visited Brashear Monday for a pair of non-conference games. The Lady Mustangs got off to a quick start, but Brashear battled back to within 5 in the early part of the 2nd quarter. Marion County pulled away again to take a 31-18 lead into the locker room. Brashear could never close the gap in the 2nd half and Marion County won the game by a final score of 64-32. Meredith Thomas led Brashear scoring with 14 points, Allison Thompson added 6, Nikkie Moncrief had 4, Miranda Creason had 3, Olivia Thompson and Skylar Housman had 2 each, and Shelby Salter scored 1 point. For Marion County, Kaelyn Spratt scored 21 points, Devan Johnson had 12, Sadie Pollard had 11, Karley Spratt added 6, Victoria Hales had 5, MaKenna Gorham had 4, Destiny Johnson had 3, and Danielle Maxwell scored 2 points.
A tough press and some hot 3-point shooting buried Brashear as the Marion County boys opened the game with a 20-0 run. The host Tigers had their best quarter, scoring 10 points in the 2nd, but still trailed 51-17 at halftime. Marion County continued to dominate in the 2nd half, winning by a final score of 81-25. Chance Hill scored 8 points for Brashear, T.J. Harrelson had 7, Hayden Housman had 6, Jacob Reeves had 3, and Nick Bradshaw scored 1 point. For Marion County, Reed Plunkett scored 18 points, Logan Kriegbaum added 16, Konner Bridgman had 9, Brandon Atteberry had 8, Kalin Robbearts scored 7, Gavin Booth had 6, Anthoney Bock and Luke Stratton had 4 each, and Kason Spratt, Jacob Stratton, and A. J. Wellman scored 3 points each.
