Brashear at NCMC Holiday Hoops December 21, 2012
Both Tiger teams ended the 2012 portion of their seasons on winning notes. The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 12-5 lead over Gilman City after one quarter of play, only to see Gilman City battle back to lead 19-18 at halftime. The game was tied at 24-24 after 3 quarters, but Brashear outscored Gilman City 14-9 in the 4th quarter to win by a score of 38-33. Shelby Salter scored 9 points for Brashear, Olivia Thompson had 8, Nikkie Moncrief and Meredith Thomas scored 7 each, Mandy Taylor had 4, and Allison Thompson scored 3 points. D. Carey led Gilman City with 10 points, M. Reed and K. Sperry had 8 each, M. Toombs had 5, and S. Holmes scored 2 points.
The Brashear boys also faced Gilman City for their game. Just like in the girls' game, Brashear took the early lead and were up 8-4 after one quarter, but Gilman City took a 20-15 lead into halftime. Brashear fell behind 31-22 after 3 quarters, but outscored Gilman City 19-10 in the final quarter to tie the game at 41-41. In the overtime period, Brashear outscored Gilman City 7-2 to pick up their first win of the season by a 48-43 margin. Hayden Housman scored 16 points for Brashear, Jacob Reeves added 15, Chance Hill had 10, Luke Morrow had 5, and Nick Bradshaw and Gabe Thomas scored 1 point each. For Gilman City, R. Burrow scored 14 points, D. Sievering added 12, K. Neff, M. Ward, and S. Arnold had 4 each, Z. Cox had 3, and G. Mason scored 2 points.
