Scotland County at Brashear January 7, 2013
Brashear played host to the Scotland County Tigers Monday night. The Scotland County girls used their size and tough defense to hold Brashear scoreless in the 1st quarter as they built a 22-2 lead going into halftime. Brashear started to get some shots to fall in the 2nd half, but it was too little too late as Scotland County pulled away for a 50-13 win. Meredith Thomas scored 5 points for Brashear, and Shelby Salter, Nikkie Moncrief, Abby Hall, and Mandy Taylor scored 2 points each. For Scotland County, Hailey Dial scored 13 points, Randi Slaughter added 12, Beth Rader had 9, Jessica Marrow had 8, Alexis Dodge had 4, and Megan Creek and Shaye Wright scored 2 points each.
The Brashear boys were able to get on the scoreboard more effectively than the girls' team, but were unable to hold Scotland County scoring in check as Scotland built a 43-22 lead going into the halftime break. Brashear scoring tapered off in the 2nd half, as Scotland County cruised to a 77-26 win. Hayden Housman scored 11 points for Brashear, Chance Hill had 7, Jacob Reeves had 3, Luke Morrow and Gabe Thomas had 2 each, and Sam Smith scored 1 point. For Scotland County, Brice Cowell scored 19 points, Lucas Howard had 14, Cardie Kigar and Will McRobert scored 10 points each, Bailey Johnston had 9, Kyle Burkhiser had 7, Jacob Blessing had 5, and Chris Jackson scored 3 points.
