Brashear at Bevier January 11, 2013
The Brashear Tigers visited Bevier Friday night for a Tri-County Conference double-header. Both girls teams took it slow to start the game with Bevier leading 6-3 after one quarter. The offensive pace picked up in the 2nd quarter as Bevier scored 11 points to take a 17-11 lead into halftime. The two teams traded point for point in the 3rd quarter with Bevier holding a 27-21 lead, but Bevier outscored Brashear in the 4th quarter to pull away for a 38-24 win. Meredith Thomas scored 6 points for Brashear, Shelby Salter and Miranda Creason had 5 each, and Nikkie Moncrief and Mandy Taylor scored 4 points each. For Bevier, Beth Ashenfelter scored 23 points and Taylor Hedworth had 15 points.
The boys' game started out with a much faster tempo as Bevier poured in 6 first quarter 3-pointers to take a 27-12 point lead. Bevier added another 19 points in the 2nd quarter to lead 46-23 at halftime. The Bevier Wildcats continued to outscore Brashear in the 2nd half as they cruised to a 71-33 win. Hayden Housman scored 10 points for Brashear, Chance Hill and Jacob Reeves added 6 each, Luke Morrow had 5, Nick Bradshaw scored 3, Jeremy Barnes had 2, and Marcus Jefferson scored 1 point. For Bevier, Colby Peukert scored 16 points, Andrew Peter and McKenzey Pipes had 12 each, Brett Peukert had 11 points, Jean Fiquet, Aaron Peter, and Jesse Ashenfelter scored 6 each, and Tony Humphreys scored 2 points.
