Brashear vs Knox County, North Shelby Tournament January 14, 2013
The #7 Brashear Tigers faced the #2 Knox County Eagles in first round boys play at the North Shelby Tournament Monday. The Tigers scored 1st, but Knox County's press and running game soon put the game out of reach for Brashear as the Eagles built a 42-4 lead at halftime. Brashear had their best offensive quarter in the 3rd, scoring 9 points, but the game was never in doubt as Knox County rolled to a 68-13 win. Hayden Housman scored 8 points for Brashear, Luke Morrow and Jacob Reeves had 2 each, and Chance Hill scored 1 point. For Knox County, Royce Poore scored 27 points, Lee Tague had 11, Kenny Wolford and Brady Johnson scored 5 each, Ryan Strange, Andrew Hunolt, and Joe Engelbrecht had 4 each, Donovan Edwards and Joey McCauley had 3 each, and Kellen Gillaspy scored 2 points.
In other 1st round boys' action, #3 LaPlata barely held off #6 Schuyler County 44-43. In girls' play, #6 Knox County upset #3 Schuyler County 58-52, and #2 Scotland County downed Palmyra JV 38-24.
