The #8 Brashear Lady Tigers and #1 Marion County Lady Mustangs faced each other in first round play at the North Shelby Tournament Tuesday night. Marion County jumped out to a 13-4 lead after one quarter, but couldn't extend the lead until a late scoring flurry gave them a 31-15 lead at halftime. Marion County extended their lead to 47-22 in the third quarter, but Brashear trimmed the margin to 53-32 by the end of the game. Shelby Salter scored 12 points for Brashear, Olivia Thompson added 7, Meredith Thomas had 5, and Miranda Creason and Allison Thompson scored 4 points each. For Marion County, Kaelyn Spratt scored 19 points, Devan Johnson had 15, Danielle Matwell had 8, Roxanne Tobias scored 6, Sadie Pollard had 3, and Victoria Hales scored 2 points.

In other first round girls' action, #5 North Shelby upset #4 LaPlata 34-30. In boy's play, #1 Marion County topped #8 Palmyra JV 56-23 and #5 North Shelby downed #4 Scotland County 53-30.
