Atlanta vs Brashear in Brashear Tournament February 5, 2013
The Atlanta Lady Hornets met the Brashear Lady Tigers in first round action at the Brashear Tournament Tuesday night. The first half was anybody's game with Brashear leading 13-12 after one quarter and Atlanta leading 20-19 at halftime. Atlanta outscored Brashear 18-5 in the pivotal 3rd quarter, then the two teams each scored 14 in the 4th to give Atlanta a 52-38 win. Shelby Salter scored 12 points for Brashear, Olivia Thompson had 6, Allison Thompson, Meredith Thomas, and Skylar Housman scored 5 each, Mandy Taylor had 4, and Nikkie Woods scored 1 point. For Atlanta, Ashton Ross scored 13 points, Sheyenne Klamert added 11, Maddi Cuppy had 10, Samantha Reed scored 7, Shalyla Collier had 6, Katy Baker had 4, and Demetri Thomas scored 1 point.
The Atlanta boys and Brashear boys also met in first round tournament action. Atlanta took a 10-9 lead after one quarter and expanded it to 29-22 at the half. The Atlanta lead had grown to 48-33 after 3 quarters as the Hornets went on to win by a score of 66-38. Hayden Housman led all scorers with 19 points for Brashear, Jacob Reeves had 8 points, Chance Hill and Gabe Thomas had 4 each, Luke Morrow had 2, and Nick Bradshaw scored 1 point. For Atlanta, Tagan Brookhart scored 14 points, Collan Thrasher added 13, Dylan Hruska had 11, Lane Waddle scored 10 points, Justin Grigsby had 9, Korbin Gunnels had 4, Ethan Baker had 3, and Lance Weber scored 2 points.
