Bucklin/Macon County at Brashear February 12, 2013
Brashear hosted Bucklin/Macon County Tuesday for a varsity double-header. The Brashear girls held a slim 13-12 lead after one quarter, but a late surge put Bucklin/Macon County ahead 26-19 at halftime. Brashear fell further behind in the 2nd half, trailing 44-35 after 3 quarters, but mounted a late rally that fell just short giving Bucklin/Macon County the 53-52 win. Olivia Thompson and Shelby Salter scored 13 each for Brashear with Meredith Thomas also in double figures with 12 points. Miranda Creason and Allison Thompson had 6 each, and Nikkie Woods scored 2 points. For Bucklin/Macon County, Kailey Grinder scored 13 points, Rachel Akins had 10, Amanda Liebhart, Bailey Ratliff, and Savannah Jochem had 9 each, and Emily Timmerman scored 3 points.
The Brashear boys suffered from cold shooting and fell behind 15-3 after one quarter and 36-11 at halftime. Things improved little for Brashear in the 2nd half as they fell by a final score of 56-23. Hayden Housman scored 7 points for Brashear, Chance Hill had 6, and Luke Morrow and Jacob Reeves scored 5 points each. For Bucklin/Macon County, Zach Ducon scored 11 points, Luke McCollum had 8 points, Alex Porter, Daniel Hernandez, and Brady Duncan had 7 each, Dylan Liebhart had 6, and Dakota Peterson, Dylon Epperson, Tim Akins, Damon Porter, and Jacob Maldonoso scored 2 points each.
