Brashear Girls vs Milan at Novinger Tournament December 3, 2013

The 7th seeded Brashear Lady Tigers met #2 Milan Tuesday night in first round play at the Novinger Tournament. The lead was rarely more than a bucket throughout the 1st half as Brashear was up 7-5 after one quarter, and Milan led 16-15 at halftime. Both teams kept up the defensive pressure in the 2nd half, but Milan's offense was more effective in the 3rd quarter as they extended their lead to 26-19. Brashear mounted a rally in the 4th and closed to within 34-33 of Milan with half a minute to go, but the comeback was doomed by 10 missed free-throws in the final quarter as Milan hung on for a 36-33 win. Meredith Thomas scored 13 points for Brashear, Mandy Taylor added 7, Abby Hall had 6, Ashley Moncrief, Sidney Sykes, and Skylar Housman had 2 each, and Allison Thompson scored 1 point. For Milan, Emily Sylvester scored 13 points, Kyley Doak had 11, Sumer Greybuffalo and Cheyenne Long had 4 each, and Kaylee Michael and Brittney Buell scored 2 points each.

In the other Tuesday girls' game, Atlanta defeated Novinger 62-53. In boys' action, LaPlata topped Milan 62-43 and Novinger won 54-46 over Green City. Second round play continues Wednesday and Thursday nights.
