Atlanta Softball/Baseball at Brashear September 26, 2014

Atlanta visited Brashear Tuesday for a softball/baseball double-header. The Lady Hornets struck for 4 runs in the top of the 1st and 2 more in the 2nd. Brashear answered with a pair of runs in the 1st on a Mandy Taylor 2-run homer. Brashear chipped away at Atlanta's lead to tie the game at 7 all after 4 innings. The Lady Tigers took a 9-8 lead after 6 innings, but Atlanta scored in the 7th to tie the game at 9 to 9. In the eighth, Atlanta pushed across 4 runs and Brashear was only able to answer with 3 as Atlanta won 13-12. Mandy Taylor had a home run for Brashear, Sidney Sykes had 2 hits, and Skylar Housman, Alli Garrett, and Erin Bradshaw also had hits. Sidney Sykes pitched for Brashear giving up 6 hits and striking out 6.

The Atlanta boys also got off to a fast start scoring 6 in the 1st and another 6 in the 2nd. Brashear got their lone run in the 1st as Chance Hill drew a leadoff walk. Jacob Bleything then hit a one out single. Hill scored on a bad throw as Bleything stole 2nd. Atlanta then added 2 more runs in the 3rd and 4 in the 4th to win by a final score of 18-1. Chance Hill got the start for Brashear with Colt Acton pitching in relief.
