Novinger Baseball Tournament August 29, 2015
Brashear faced Novinger Saturday morning in the Novinger Baseball Tournament. Novinger scored a run in the 1st inning, but Brashear scored a pair of runs in the top of the 3rd to take a 2-1 lead. Novinger tied the score at 2-2 in the bottom of the 3rd. Things went badly for Brashear in the 4th as Novinger scored 7 runs. The Tigers weren't able to recover and Novinger took the game 12-2. Jacob Bleything and Zane Sykes had hits for Brashear. Jacob Bleything got the start for Brashear with Dalton Hocker pitching in relief.
Brashear faced Linn County in the 3rd place game. Neither team got their offense going until Brashear scored 3 times in the 3rd to take a 3-0 lead. Brashear added another 4 runs in the 4th and starter Colt Acton kept mowing down Linn County batters for 5 innings, keeping them off the scoreboard. Linn County finally got to the Brashear bullpen in the 7th, but Acton re-entered and pitched out of a bases-loaded no-out jam with 3 strikeouts to preserve a 7-4 win which earned Brashear the 3rd Place trophy. Jacob Bleything had 2 hits for Brashear, with Dalton Hocker, Zane Sykes, and Colt Acton also having hits. Acton got the win, striking out 15.
