Video Cards

The video card is the basis of your display. It gives your computer the ability to send a picture to its screen. It's usually a separate card that fits into one of the slots on the motherboard. When you buy a video card, you need to match it to your computer. If you buy a really great video card but your monitor is puny, then you won't really be using all of your motherboards potential. When you buy a monitor, the video card that is in your computer should suffice.

Currently, we are using the onboard video card which came with the computer. Later on we will be installing an ATI All-In-Wonder 128 Pro. It has 32MB of memory with 128-bit 3D graphics chip. This costs around $170 to purchase.

Intel designed the AGP which is the latest craze in the need for graphical speed. It is four times faster than the PCI, which runs at 33MHz. But it will cost a lot more than the card that comes with your computer.
