Brashear Drops a Pair of Conference Games at LaPlata Friday

LaPlata blanked Brashear 5-0 in the softball game and also took the baseball game 6-2.

The Lady Tigers from Brashear and the Lady Bulldogs from LaPlata faced off Friday night for a Tri-County Conference softball game. LaPlata got on the board in the 1st when a Laura Tuggle grounder that looked like a sure out found it’s way through the infield and then past the outfield allowing her to circle the bases for a score. That was all LaPlata’s Miranda Easley would need as she threw a 1-hit shutout to record the win. Carmen Woods recorded Brashear’s lone hit. Easley struck out 10. Christina Scudder took the loss for Brashear striking out 9. The final score was LaPlata 5, Brashear 0.

In the baseball game, LaPlata scored a run in the first, but Brashear took the lead 2-1 in the 2nd after Kiley Watson drew a leadoff walk, and Koty Hayden blasted a 2 run homer. Brashear maintained their lead until the 5th when LaPlata scored a pair to take the lead 3-2, then added 3 more insurance runs in the 6th to win the game 6-2.

Brashear will host Atlanta at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday for a conference baseball/softball double-header.
