Brashear Hosts Atlanta For Homecoming Friday

The Lady Tigers got the evening off to a proper start with a homecoming win, but the Hornets ruined the Tigers hopes for a homecoming sweep.

In the girls' game, Brashear took a 12-10 first quarter lead, then expanded the lead to 33-18 at halftime. Atlanta battled back to end the 3rd down by only 10 at 50-40. The evening would ultimately belong to the Lady Tigers as they scored 17 4th quarter points to get the win 67 - 40. Hailee Kelsey was top scorer for the Lady Tigers netting 19 points. Kimberly Elsea had 13, Chelsey Collop had 12, Christina Scudder had a double-double with 10 points and 13 boards, Jessi Hill scored 7, Ashley Clarkson had 4, and Caroline Slavin had 2 points. For Atlanta, Beth Voss had 15, Tiffany Watson had 14, Cassie Graham had 6, and Nicole Sloan scored 5 points.

In the boys' game, Atlanta jumped out to a 22-11 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and even though the Tigers played hard the rest of the game, they couldn't overcome the 1st quarter deficit. Atlanta led 36-27 at half, 55-44 after 3, and picked up the win 74-60. Justin Hazen had 15 for Brashear, Matt Thomas scored 14, Kiley Watson and Jacob Shipman had 10 each, Kale Watson scored 7, and David Anderson and Ryan Ferdig had 2 points each. Atlanta was paced by Josey Garnett with 31 points, Javaun West added 21, Justin Miller had 9, Cody Miller had 7, and Schyler Wilhelm scored 6 points.
