Brashear hosts Mary Immaculate October 27, 2008
The Tigers come away with a pair of wins in 7-8th grade basketball games.
The Lady Tigers 7th and 8th graders faced off against Mary Immaculate Monday night. Brashear led 5-4 after the first frame, but outscored the Hawks 11-7 to extend their lead to 16-11 at half-time. After 3 quarters, Brashear led 22-15, but the Lady Tigers exploded for 14 fourth quarter points to seal the 36-18 win. Meredith Thomas had 14 points, Shelby Slater scored 10, Miranda Creason added 4, and Nikki Moncrief, Olivia Thompson, Alexa Acton, and Kayla Snelling scored 2 points each. For the Hawks, Emily Schwend had 10, Kallie Holt had 6, and Kaitley Hagar scored 2 points.
In the boy's game, the Hawks jumped out to a 9-4 lead after 1 quarter. Brashear tied the game late in the 2nd quarter, but a late 3-pointer by Scott Schwend gave Mary Immaculate a 14-11 lead going into the locker room. Brashear came out shooting in the 3rd scoring 12 points to take a 23-20 lead. Brashear then held the Hawks scoreless in the 4th on their way to a 27-20 victory. Hayden Housman led Brashear with 23 points, and Nick Bradshaw and Austin Alexander scored 2 points each. For Mary Immaculate, Scott Schwend scored 8 points, Quinn Benson had 6, Koby Bird had 4, and Luke Morrow scored 2 points.
