Brashear at Macon County November 3, 2008
The JH Tiger squads split a pair of basketball games on the road Monday.
The girls game got off to a slow start with aggressive defenses by both teams. Brashear finally got points on the scoreboard with under a minute left in the 1st and held a 4-1 lead going into the 2nd quarter. The Lady Tigers only managed a single point in the 2nd while Macon County put up 9 to take a halftime lead of 10-5. Brashear managed 8 points in the second half, but couldn't overcome the Lady Raider lead and took a 19-13 loss. Shelby Salter led Brashear scoring with 7, and Meredith Thomas and Kristin Love scored 3 points each. For Macon County, Sara Duncan and Abby Lusher scored 6 points each, Bailey Ratliff had 3, and Sierra Thompson and Kailey Grinder scored 2 points each.
The Brashear boys also got on the scoreboard first in their game, but with a much different result. While the Lady Tigers suffered from a 2nd quarter scoring drought, the Tigers put up 17 points in their 2nd period to take a 24-7 halftime lead. Brashear extended their lead to 35-11 after 3 quarters on their way to a 37-18 win. Nick Thomas had 12 points for Brashear, Hayden Housman and Joseph Woods added 6 each, Joe Clarkson had 5, Andy Belzer added 4, and Taren Treasure and Jeremy Barnes scored 2 points each. For Macon County, Alex Porter scored 3 points, Wyatt Short, Damon Porter, Caleb Klingsmith, Aaron Maddox, Cody Kessel, Christopher Nolte, and Dakota Kincanon had 2 each, and Blake Lauer scored 1 point.
