Macon County girls and Green City boys advance to championship games.

The Brashear Lady Tigers and Macon County Lady Raiders squared off in the championship semi-final game Wednesday night. Tough defense was the order of the day and it showed in the low scoring totals. Macon County held a 5-2 lead after the 1st quarter, which they extended to11-4 at halftime. In the second half, Brashear continued to struggle against the press and fell behind 15-6 after 3 quarters with Macon County getting the win by a final score of 19-8. Both teams struggled from the free throw line with Brashear going 0-11 from the charity stripe and Macon County sinking only 1 of 11. Meredith Thomas had 6 points for Brashear with Shelby Salter adding 2. Bailey Ratliff topped Macon County scorers with 7 points, Cassandra Peterson added 6, Abby Lusher had 4, and Sara Duncan scored 2 points.

The Brashear boys hoped to turn things around against Bucklin after dropping a 2 point game with Bevier Monday night. The Tigers came out strong taking a 13-2 lead over Bucklin after the 1st quarter and building a 23-4 lead at halftime. Both teams substituted freely throughout the game as Brashear finished the 3rd quarter with a 32-13 lead on their way to a 39-23 win. For Brashear, Joe Clarkson and Joseph Woods scored 10 points each, Hayden Housman had 8, Taren Treasure had 4, Nick Thomas had 3, and Sam Smith and Andy Belzer scored 2 points each. Anthony Kitchen led Bucklin with 11 points, Tim Akins added 6, Lake McCollum had 4, and Ronnie Melton scored 2 points.

In the other Wednesday night girls game, Bevier topped Bucklin 21-16 and in boys action Green City downed Bevier 60-23.
