Brashear at Bevier Friday January 16, 2009

The Tigers and Wildcats split a pair of basketball games in Tri-County Conference action.

The girls' game was nip and tuck in the first half with the score knotted at 8-8 after the 1st quarter and 23-18 in favor of Bevier at half-time. The third quarter was a duplicate of the 1st with both teams scoring 8 points each to make the score 31-26. Bevier then outscored the Lady Tigers 21-14 in the fourth quarter to pick up the 52-40 win. Emily Ladwig paced Brashear with 13 points, Stephanie Elsea, Abby McKim, and Macy Rogers scored 8 points each, Caroline Slavin had 2, and Shelby Rogers scored 1 point. For Bevier, Valle Wilson had 16 points, Dominica Prokup added 13, Stephanie Ashenfelter had 11, Chandra Shurvington had 7, and Cheyenne Shelmadine scored 5 points.

In the boys' game, the Tigers went to work quickly in the 1st quarter running up a lead, then sending in the reserves for some playing time. Brashear led 22-14 after the 1st quarter and 37-21 at halftime. The Tigers cruised through the 3rd quarter leading 58-41 going into the 4th. Bevier mounted a rally in the 4th, but still fell short with the final score being Brashear 70 - Bevier 59. For Brashear, Kiley Watson had 16 points, Trae Treasure scored 14, Justin Hazen added 8, Matt Thomas and Ryan Ferdig had 7 each, Anthony Ambrosia scored 6, Dillon Redding, Adam Songer, and Hayden Coin scored 2 points each, and Zach Reeves scored 1 point. Bevier was led by Jesse Shelmadine with 22, Matt Peter had 18, Rollie Shatzer and Dalton Livingston had 4 each, and Drew Kerns, Patrick Peukert, Wade Teter, and Logan Young scored 2 points each.
