Brashear at Canton Friday January 30, 2009

The host Canton Tigers get a pair of homecoming wins.

The state-ranked Canton Lady Tigers jumped out to a commanding 19-3 lead and led 36-10 at halftime. Things went no better for Brashear in the 3rd as they were held scoreless allowing Canton to run their lead to 65-10 on their way to a 71-20 win. Scoring for Brashear were Macy Rogers with 6 points, Stephanie Elsea had 4, Abby McKim and Emily Ladwig had 3 each, and Kristen Love and Caroline Slavin scored 2 points each. For Canton, Tori Nieman scored 24, Lindsey Lillard had 14, Jessi Logsdon had 10, Ashleigh Otts scored 8, Kristyn Caldwell had 7, Aron Taylor had 6, and Kara Uhlmeyer scored 2 points.

In the boys' game, Brashear scored 6 quick points, but the momentum shifted and Canton led 13-10 after the 1st quarter and 33-15 at the half. Canton led 50-29 after 3 quarters, but a 4th quarter Brashear rally narrowed the gap. Canton picked up the win by a final score of 63-50. Kiley Watson led Brashear with 18 points, Trae Treasure added 12, Matt Thomas had 8, and Anthony Ambrosia, Justin Hazen, and Ryan Ferdig scored 4 points each. For Canton, Justin Ellison scored 18 points, Colt Carper had 17, Grant Lay added 11, Josh Lee had 6, Luke Barton and Steffen Simmons had 4 points each, Nathan Uhlmeyer had 2, and Paul Ricketts scored 1 point.
