Knox County girls and boys teams pick up wins in non-conference basketball action Monday.

The Brashear gym was packed with enthusiastic fans Monday night to see the Tigers and Eagles square off. In the girls' game, Knox County jumped out to a 16-4 1st quarter lead and were up 38-12 at half-time. The Lady Eagles extended the lead to 60-23 after 3 quarters and picked up the win by a margin of 76-26. For Brashear, Macy Rogers scored 11 points, Emily Ladwig had 8, Sydney Slavin had 3, and Stephanie Elsea and Abby McKim scored 2 points each. Lorrie Peters led Knox County scoring with 22 points, Tessa Ramer had 20, Stacey Leckbee added 13, Myra Parrish had 9, Becca Mallett had 6, Katie Ausmus had 4, and Amanda Woods scored 2 points.

The Knox County boys went ahead 19-12 at the end of the first quarter, but Brashear battled back to close the gap with Knox County leading by a single point, 38-37 at half-time. Both teams had runs in the 2nd half giving them temporary leads with Knox County up 54-52 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Brashear managed to take the lead during the 4th quarter and were up with less than 3:30 left to play, but the Eagles hit some key shots and Brashear only widened Knox County's lead as they were forced to foul as the clock wound down. Knox County held on for the win by a score of 76-67. Brashear's Ryan Ferdig led all scorers with 25 points, Trae Treasure added 14, Anthony Ambrosia had 9, Matt Thomas had 8, Kiley Watson had 6, Justin Hazen had 3, and Jay Scudder scored 2 points. For Knox County, Dennis Dent scored 24 points, Justin Reeves had 21, Mitchel Penn added 13, Lucas Hudson had 8, Brett Wilkerson had 5, Keenan Gillaspy had 4, and Parker Dixson scored 1 point.
