Brashear Tournament Thursday February 12, 2009

Knox County boys and girls teams, Brashear boys, and Marion County girls advance to Saturday's championship games.

The top seeded Marion County Lady Mustangs wasted no time jumping out to a 21-5 1st quarter lead over Brashear and led 37-11 at the half. Marion County continued to extend their lead to 59-23 in the 3rd quarter before Brashear rallied for 19 4th quarter points. Marion County advanced to the championship game by a final score of 62-42. For Brashear, Abby McKim scored 19 points, Macy Rogers had 14, Stephanie Elsea scored 4, Shelby Rogers had 3, and Sydney Slavin scored 2 points. Jessica Redd led Marion County with 24 points, Morgan Spratt had 10, Randi Lee Plunkett added 9, Jordan Johnson had 8, Kayla Bridgman had 4, Kayla Tuley had 3, and Kim Shuck and Ranay Sharpe scored 2 points each.

In the Brashear-Novinger boys' game, the host Tigers jumped out to a 23-5 lead after one quarter and scored 31 points in the 2nd quarter to go into half-time leading 54-22. Brashear pushed their lead to 77-38 after 3 quarters on their way to an 82-47 victory. Trae Treasure had 23 points for Brashear, Anthony Ambrosia, Matt Thomas, and Kiley Watson had 12 points each, Justin Hazen was also in double figures with 10, Ryan Ferdig had 5, Jay Scudder scored 4, and Michael McKim and Zach Reeves scored 2 points each. For Novinger, Aric Luman led with 26 points, Cory Smith had 8, Trevor Munday scored 5, Ben Morelock had 4, and William Dyer and Austin Martin scored 2 points each.

In other Thursday night action, the Knox County girls downed North Shelby 61-26 and the Knox County boys defeated North Shelby 50-27.
