Milan at Brashear Monday February 16, 2009

The host Tigers claim a pair of victories in non-conference basketball action.

The girls' game was close throughout with the score being tied 14-14 after the first quarter. Milan managed a 38-33 lead at the half, but the score was tied again at 46-46 after 3 quarters of play. Brashear outscored Milan 21-13 in the final quarter to seal the win by a score of 67-59. Brashear had 5 players in double figures. Macy Rogers had 15, Stephanie Elsea and Emily Ladwig scored 12 each, Abby McKim and Caroline Slavin scored 10 each, Shelby Rogers had 6, and Sydney Slavin scored 2 points. Carly Bohle led Milan with 30 points, Kayla Fleshman had 14, Giovanna Caporetto had 7 points, Jordan Dunlap had 5, and Danah Page scored 3 points.

In the boys' game, Milan held a 12-11 lead after the first quarter, but the Tigers outscored them 20-7 in the 2nd quarter to lead 31-19 at halftime. Milan came storming back in the 3rd pulling to within 1 point. Brashear managed a small lead during the 1st half of the 4th period. The Tigers began to slow the game down with 3 minutes left, but Milan managed to tie the game 48-48 sending it into overtime. Brashear then outscored Milan 13-7 in the extra period to take the win 61-55. Trae Treasure had 20 points for Brashear, Ryan Ferdig added 13, Justin Hazen had 12, Matt Thomas scored 10, Kiley Watson had 4, and Anthony Ambrosia scored 2 points. For Milan, Logan Hill scored 23 points, Cody Peterie had 13, Bryce Richardson had 9, Cooper Bankus and Tyler Morehead scored 4 points each, and Ritnee Smiley had 2 points.
