Brashear at North Shelby February 24, 2009
The Lady Raiders celebrate a Senior Night victory, but the visiting Tigers play the spoilers in the boys' game.
The Brashear Lady Tigers stayed close in the early going, trailing by a score of 17-14 after the 1st quarter, but North Shelby outscored Brashear 16-4 during the 2nd quarter to take a 35-18 lead into halftime. North Shelby continued to roll in the 2nd half winning by a final score of 61-30. For Brashear, Macy Rogers scored 11 points, Emily Ladwig had 6, Abby McKim and Caroline Slavin had 4 points each, Shelby Rogers had 3, and Sydney Slavin scored 2 points. For North Shelby, Amanda Orr led with 15 points, Olivia Ahern added 13, Jillian Yoder had 12, Rachel Echternadt, Jessica Linberger, and Hillary Henderson had 6 each, Nora Dodd had 2, and Cayla Hicks scored 1 point.
The boys' game was a close see-saw battle. The score was tied 14-14 after one quarter and Brashear held a slim 28-26 lead at halftime. The second half was also close with Brashear leading 39-36 after 3 quarters. Despite briefly leading midway through the 4th, the Raiders ended up trailing in the late going and were forced to foul. Brashear sank 11 out of 14 4th quarter free throws to get the win 58-53. Kiley Watson had 20 points for Brashear, Trae Treasure had 17, Anthony Ambrosia added 11, Ryan Ferdig had 6, and Justin Hazen and Matt Thomas scored 2 points each. For North Shelby, Josh McEwen scored 20 points, Michael Stoneburner had 16, Dahn Kemp added 9, and Alex Daniel, Zach Caldwell, Jace Caldwell, and Alex Thrasher scored 2 points each.
