Linn County at Brashear February 25, 2009
The Tigers and the Mustangs split a pair of Tri-County Conference basketball games.
In the girls' game, both teams started rather slowly, but Linn County managed to finally put up 10 points in the first quarter while holding Brashear scoreless. Brashear finally got on track in the 2nd quarter, but trailed 22-8 at the half. The Lady Tigers couldn't close the gap in the 2nd half and trailed 37-20 after 3 quarters and Linn County won by a margin of 50-30. Macy Rogers scored 11 for Brashear, Shelby Rogers added 9, Sydney Slavin had 6, and Emily Ladwig scored 4 points. Meagan Nickell led Linn County scoring with 23 points, Jordan Russell had 14, Holly Almond had 6, Jody Rogers had 5, and Jessica Hayes scored 2 points.
The boys' game also had a slow start with Linn County holding a 9-8 lead after one quarter of play. The second quarter was a whole different story as Brashear reeled off a 14-0 run on their way to a 33 point quarter giving them a 41-18 halftime lead. The Tiger lead was 66-33 after 3 quarters and Brashear picked up the win by a score of 77-50. For Brashear, Kiley Watson had 17 points, Justin Hazen had 13, Trae Treasure added 12, Ryan Ferdig had 8, Anthony Ambrosia and Matt Thomas had 6 each, Cody Snelling had 5, Jacob Owens and Zach Reeves scored 4 each, and Jay Scudder had 2 points. Shane Rardon led Linn County with 14 points, Travis Bennett had 11, Jonathon Hostetter added 8, Brandon Montgomery had 7, Devon O'Kane had 6, and T.J. Bowen and Kalobb Lute scored 2 points each.
