Class 1 District 11 Basketball at LaPlata Wednesday March 4, 2009
Boys' semi-final games between LaPlata and Novinger, and Brashear and Macon County were played.
In the first game of the evening, Brashear posted a modest 13-4 lead after one quarter of play as both teams struggled offensively. Macon County outscored the Tigers 18-12 in the 2nd quarter to pull within 25-22 at halftime. Brashear made a stronger showing in the 2nd half taking a 45-33 lead after 3 quarters and winning by a score of 60-44. Ryan Ferdig and Anthony Ambrosia led Brashear scoring with 12 points each, Matt Thomas added 10, Trae Treasure had 8, Cody Snelling had 7, Kiley Watson scored 6, Adam Songer had 3, and Justin Hazen scored 2 points. For Macon County, Zac Hall had 10 points, Ethan Thompson and Joel Atha had 9 points each, Wade Burstert had 8, James Fisher had 5, and Josh Anderson scored 3 points.
In the 2nd game of the evening, LaPlata downed Novinger 77-42. LaPlata will face Brashear in the championship game at 6:30 Friday. The girls' championship game is between Marion County and Madison at 6:30 Thursday night.
