Knox County Softball at Brashear September 1, 2009
A classic pitching duel ends with a 2-0 Knox County win.
Tuesday night, the Brashear Tiger and Knox County Eagle softball squads battled through 4 scoreless innings before the first run was recorded by Knox County on a Tiger fielding error. Up to that point, Brashear pitcher Cierra Hines had limited the Eagles to only 3 hits. It had looked like Brashear would be the first to get on the scoreboard in the 3rd inning as a Kristen Love walk, followed by back to back bunt hits by Cierra Hines and Shelby Salter loaded the bases with no outs. Knox County pitcher Brittany Miller got out of the jam with 2 straight strikeouts and a popup. The score remained 1-0 until the top of the seventh when triples by Hannah Dale and Myra Parrish brought in another insurance run for Knox County giving the Eagles a 2-0 victory.
For the Tigers, Shelby Salter had 3 hits, Cierra Hines had 2 hits, and Abby McKim also had a hit. For Knox County, Dale, Leckbee, Parrish, Miller, Couch, and Poston all had hits. Cierra Hines took the loss for Brashear striking out 7 while Brittany Miller got the win for Knox County striking out 12.
