LaPlata Girls and Novinger Boys Claim Tournament Titles

In the girls' 3rd place game, Novinger jumped out to a 7-4 lead after 1 quarter, but Brashear came back to take a 12-9 lead into halftime. The game continued to be close throughout the 2nd half. With under a minute left, Novinger tied the game at 18 all forcing overtime where they outscored Brashear to win by a score of 22-20. Meredith Thomas led Brashear scorers with 10 points, Miranda Creason and Allison Thompson added 4 points each, and Oliva Thompson had 2 points. For Novinger, Lattie Hubbard had 10 points, Maria Gunnels added 6, Emily Reardon had 4, and Sierra Jacques scored 2 points.

In the boys' 3rd place game, Green City led 15-12 after 1 quarter, but Brashear tied the game at 21 all at halftime. Brashear ended the 3rd quarter with a 32-29 lead and won by a margin of 47-42. Chance Hill had 16 points for Brashear, Hayden Housman chipped in 12, Jacob Reeves had 10, and Jeremy Barnes, Sam Smith, and Gabe Thomas each scored 3 points. For Green City, Jared Brundage had 21 points, Keagan Franey scored 14, Hadley Williams had 3, and Jericho Search and Jarrett McCartney scored 2 points each.

In the title games, the LaPlata girls defeated Green City and the Novinger boys beat LaPlata.
