Atlanta JH Basketball Tournament 2nd Round Results
The Atlanta and LaPlata girls and the Bevier and Atlanta boys advance to the championship games.
The Brashear and Bevier girls locked up in a hard-fought battle Thursday in the consolation semi-finals game. The score was tied 7-7 after the 1st quarter and 9-9 at halftime. Bevier managed to pull ahead 13-12 after 3 quarters and outscored Brashear 14-9 in the 4th to claim a 27-21 victory. Brashear scoring was led by Meredith Thomas with 8 points, Allison Thompson added 6, Olivia Thompson had 4, Ashley Moncrief had 2, and Miranda Creason scored 1 point. For Bevier, Taylor Hedworth scored 13 points, Memphis Buster had 8, Beth Ashenfelter had 4, and Rachel Lowe scored 2 points.
In Thursday's boys' consolation semi-final, Brashear jumped out to an 8-2 1st quarter lead over LaPlata, but LaPlata outscored Brashear 15-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 17-12 lead at halftime. It was all LaPlata in the 2nd half as they pulled away for a 43-21 win. Hayden Housman led the way for Brashear scoring 12 points, Jeremy Barnes added 5, Jacob Reeves had 3, and Nick Bradshaw scored 1 point. For LaPlata, Travis Small had 14 points, Nathan Peterson added 9, Travis Clay had 7, Tanner Riggins had 4, John Boren had 3, and Seth Brown, Baylon Belt, and Matthew Safely scored 2 points each.
In other 2nd round games, the Bucklin girls downed Green City 27-24 and the Macon County boys defeated Green City 45-38 in the consolation semi-finals. In the championship semi-finals, the Atlanta girls topped Macon County 33-27 and the LaPlata girls beat Novinger 39-31. The Bevier boys downed Novinger 36-22 and the Atlanta boys beat Bucklin 41-17.
