Brashear Basketball at Atlanta January 5, 2010

The Brashear Boys and Atlanta Girls pick up Tri-County Conference wins.

The girls' game was a close one all the way. Atlanta held an 8-6 lead after 1 quarter, but Brashear managed to take a 17-16 lead at halftime. Neither team managed more than a few point lead in the entire 1st half. The 2nd half also proved to be close with Atlanta pulling ahead 30-29 after 3 quarters of play. Free throws proved to be decisive in the 4th quarter as Atlanta went 4-5 while Brashear was 0-4 from the line giving Atlanta a 46-43 win.

In the boys' game, it looked like Atlanta might run away with it as they posted a 23-15 lead after the 1st quarter. Brashear closed the gap to 34-31 by halftime. The 2nd half belonged to Brashear as they outscored Atlanta 13-8 in the 3rd quarter and 21-15 in the 4th quarter to claim a 65-57 victory.
