The Tigers and Wildcats split a pair of Tri-County Conference basketball games.

The Brashear Lady Tigers scored the 1st 6 points of their game and led 6-4 after the 1st quarter and held a 12-8 halftime lead. Although the game was always close, Brashear managed to maintain a 21-16 lead after 3 quarters of play before Bevier rallied in the 4th quarter. After Bevier surged ahead with a 4 point lead midway through the 4th, Brashear battled back for a 35-27 win. Stephanie Elsea led Brashear scoring with 18 points, Shelby Salter and Katie Smith had 6 each, Abby McKim added 3, and Chandi March scored 2 points. For Bevier, Valle Wilson scored 10 points, Samantha Templeton added 7, Dominica Prokup and Courtney Mattingly had 4 each and Christina Templeton scored 2 points.

The boy’s game was also a hotly contested affair with the score being knotted 14-14 after the 1st quarter. Brashear managed to take a 27-25 lead into the locker room and extended their lead to 44-32 after 3 quarters. With 1 quarter of play left, Bevier turned to the 3-ball and melted away Brashear’s lead with 6 made 3-pointers in the final quarter. Trailing by three points in the final minute, Brashear twice failed to get off a possible game-tying 3 point shot allowing Bevier to escape with a 61-58 win. Anthony Ambrosia led Brashear with 24 points, Cody Snelling added 13, Jay Scudder scored 11 points, Matt Thomas had 8, and Adam Songer scored 2 points. For Bevier, Jesse Shelmadine scored 32 points including 5 of the 4th quarter 3-pointers, Dru Kerns had 10, Dalton Livingston had 8, McKenzie Pipes added 5, Logan Yount had 3, Andy McGhee had 2, and Wade Teter scored 1 point.
