Brashear at North Shelby Tournament January 22, 2010

The Tigers and Atlanta Hornets split the 7th place games.

The Brashear Lady Tigers and the Atlanta Lady Hornets met Friday night at the North Shelby Tournament to play the 7th place game. Brashear managed to take a 10-8 lead after one quarter and extended the lead to 21-16 at halftime. Brashear was up 29-23 after 3 quarters before Atlanta mounted a comeback, but Brashear held on for a 37-34 win. For Brashear, Shelby Salter scored 14 points, Abby McKim had 7, Stephanie Elsea and Katie Smith added 5 points each, Sydney Slavin had 4, and Chandi March scored 2 points. Atlanta was led by Amanda Spearman with 13 points, Shelby Tipton added 8, Miranda Hruska had 4, Lindsey Rhoades had 3, and Cindy Erwin, Brianna Faulkner and Amelia Smothers scored 2 points each.

The boys' 7th place game was also a matchup between Brashear and Atlanta. The Tigers and Hornets fought a see-saw battle early on with the score being tied 14-14 after the 1st quarter. Atlanta outscored the Tigers 10-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 24-18 lead at half-time. Brashear closed the gap slightly to 32-27 in the third quarter, but Atlanta ran away with the 4th quarter to win 51-36. Daniel Smith led Brashear scoring with 8 points, Anthony Ambrosia and Taren Treasure added 6 points each, Nick Thomas had 4, Hayden Housman and Cody Snelling added 3 points each, and Adam Songer, Zach Reeves, and Joe Clarkson scored 2 points each. For Atlanta, Derek Jackson scored 15 points, Travis Miller had 13, Nathaniel Lush added 11, Mick Garnett had 5, Aaron Sampson had 3, and Jesse Likes scored 2 points.
